UK Renewable Energy Team
Public Project - Started on October 24, 2009
Project to get ZGM members off the energy grid by building custom renewable energy micro-generators on their houses. Currently most need an Electrician for consumer unit installation.

This project's aim is to empower the Zeitgeist Movement by stopping them having to pay for energy produced by the sun & earth, which belongs to everyone.
If you live somewhere in the UK with strong prevailing winds, very little cloud cover, a stream or a spring on your land, and you're paying electricity companies to power your house, we want to hear from you and help you!
Many private firms out there will charge extortionate prices for relatively ineffective solutions, we want to turn the tables on them.
I would ask that anyone joining the team signs up to the UK Chapter of the Zeitgeist Movement, and use that forum for communication. | |

Alternative would be lightweight strong wood with metal leading edge. | | Knowledge | Economics | Treasurer and Materials Cost Researcher | For a while this project will need someone to take stock of what materials and components we can acquire within TZM and make budgets based on what we need to source from outside. Post will be redundant once TZM grows so far that we need not deal in money. | | Commodity | Electronics | Alternators | Alternators needed for electricity generation in hundreds of watts from harnessed environmental power. | | Commodity | Electronics | Batteries High Capacity Lead Acid Lithium | Sets of large battery blocks needed to store built-up electrical energy supplied by intermittent power sources, for use during system downtime. | | Commodity | Electronics | Inverters 240V AC | 240V inverters required to convert stored battery energy into AC electricity supply, capable of reliably carrying hundreds of watts, and sustaining a kilowatt or two for short periods. | | Knowledge | Engineering | Machine Drivetrain Designer | Mechanic needed with experience in gearboxes and the appropriate materials for maximum working life while providing appropriate output for a generator, with minimum power loss. | | Knowledge | Social | Planning Permission Clerk | Need someone with knowledge of how to obtain planning permission to erect structures on residential land, to handle applications. |
