Jacque Fresco and Peter Joseph have long claimed that social collapse will be required before people be willing to adopt the Venus Project. Social collapse is never something that we wish for, however, this is just what has happened to Haiti in the wake of the Haitian earthquake of 2010.
The goal of the Haiti Venus Project is to apply Venus Project design principles to guide the reconstruction of Haiti, following this devasting earthquake. Through application of Venus Project methods, one of the world's poorest nations, in the wake of one of its greatest tragedies, could be transformed into a harbinger for a new age of human prosperity.

| On January 12, 2010, Haiti was struck by a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake. The Haiti Venus Project is focused on turning this tragic event into an opportunity, not just for Haiti, but for humanity, by applying Venus Project design principles to the reconstruction of this impoverished nation.
